DailyAstro (旺財時空) is a BaZi date-selection tool. Give it a birth date and it derives your day master, scores the year's lucky wealth days, finds the almanac-approved dates for things like opening a business or moving house, and checks how two people match. Free, no account, and your data stays on your machine.
Three things we hold to
1. The algorithm is published
Where every point comes from is written out in the methodology, and every result in the app has a “why” view that lists the rules one by one. You are free to disagree with our weights — but you can at least see what they are and judge for yourself. The worst thing in date selection is “because the master said so”: a phrase that closes every question at once.
2. Your data stays on your device, and the exception is spelled out
The whole site is static files, and the scoring runs in your browser. Birth dates, your list of family members and your settings are written to localStorage only — there is no database collecting them and no analytics tool following you. Every page fetches font files from Google Fonts; apart from that, an outbound connection only happens when you press a button that starts one.
There is one exception, and we would rather write it down than pretend it away: when you press “AI explanation”, the scores and rules that have already been computed are forwarded through a server function of our own to Gemini or DeepSeek, using our own API key — so you do not have to bring one. What goes out carries no name and no birth date, and we do not keep the requests. Item by item, that is in the privacy policy.
3. We do not sell fear
We will not tell you that blood and disaster await you this year and then sell you a remedy. There is nothing to unlock, no luck-changing service, no consecrated objects. A low score does not throw red warnings at you — it tells you which module gave no bonus today, and suggests you wait for the next good day.
No birth time? We will not invent one
Plenty of tools quietly treat a missing hour as 子時 (23:00–01:00) so the chart looks complete. We do not. No birth time means no hour pillar — inventing one adds a character to your four pillars that you never gave us, and afterwards you cannot tell which characters are yours and which were filled in for you.
To be equally plain about the other side: all current scoring uses the year, month and day pillars only — not one rule reads the hour pillar. If you do enter a birth time, the hour pillar appears in your chart and goes into the AI explanation's prompt (which is sent only when you press the button), but it changes no score. So an unknown birth time costs you nothing, and a known one does not make the number any “truer”. Every rule is written out in the methodology.
What we cannot do
- No true solar time (longitude) correction yet — if the birth place sits far from its time-zone meridian, or the birth was close to midnight, the day pillar can be off by a day.
- The almanac 宜／忌 data comes from a single open-source database (lunar-javascript (opens in a new tab)), and printed almanacs disagree with each other to begin with.
- The weights and the bands are our judgement calls, not formulas quoted from a classical text. Publishing them is the point: it lets you weigh them yourself.
- No sync, no accounts. Change machine or clear your browser data and the records are gone.
