How the scoring works

Your birth date gives the year, month and day pillars. The day pillar's heavenly stem is your day master. The element your day master controls is your wealth: same polarity is indirect wealth (偏財 — windfalls, speculation, one-off gains), opposite polarity is direct wealth (正財 — salary, contracts, steady income).

Every day of the year is then scanned. A day whose stem is your indirect wealth scores 50; direct wealth scores 40. The day's branch adds up to 50 more when it completes a three-harmony group with your natal branches, +20 for a six-harmony with your day branch, +15 with your month branch, or +10 when the branch's own element simply matches your wealth element. Then the veto: any day whose branch clashes or punishes your natal day or month branch is removed outright, however high it scored. Finally the 五鼠遁 rule derives the stems of that day's twelve two-hour periods and picks the strongest one — your golden hour.

100 points is the cut-off. 100 is “good”, 130 is “strong”, 160 is “exceptional”, and 190 is the theoretical ceiling. Every date carries a “why” view listing each rule and its points, summing to the total. No black box. Read the full method →

Not just money

For opening a business, signing, moving house, marrying and travelling, the traditional almanac decides first and your chart only sorts what survives. The day's 宜 (“suitable”) list must contain a term for that purpose — 開市 for opening, 立券 or 交易 for signing, 移徙 or 入宅 for moving, 嫁娶 for marriage, 出行 for travel. Where a purpose has more than one term, each term is judged on its own: it counts only if it appears in 宜 and that same term is absent from the day's 忌 (“avoid”) list. One surviving term is enough for the day to qualify, and only the terms that actually survived are listed. If the day clashes with your chart, it is out. Only then do your personal harmony bonuses rank the survivors.

Check compatibility before you hire

A helper, a partner, a tenant — enter a birth date and it is scored against you, or against everyone in your household. Six-harmony on the day branch +20, three-harmony +15, stem combination +15, year-branch six-harmony +10; day-branch clash −25, punishment −15, harm −10. Base 50, clamped to 0–100. 80 and above is “excellent match”, 65 “compatible”, 45 “neutral”, below 45 “incompatible”.

For a household, your own score counts double in the weighted average — but a day-branch clash or punishment with any member is flagged separately, so a flattering average can never hide one. See a full sample report →

Birth time unknown? Still works

Most people know the day they were born, not the two-hour period. Many tools quietly assume midnight so the chart looks complete. That is fabrication, and DailyAstro will never put a character into your chart that you did not give it: with no birth time there is simply no hour pillar. Golden hours still work regardless, because they are derived from the candidate day's stem, not from your birth hour.

To be exact: every score today is computed from the year, month and day pillars only. If you do supply a birth time it is stored, shown on your chart, and written into the prompt for the AI reading (which only goes out when you press the button yourself) — but it changes no score, no qualifying date, no band and no golden hour. Leaving it blank costs you nothing, and filling it in does not make the numbers more accurate. Every rule is written out →

Your data stays on your device

No account, no login, no tracking. Birth dates, household members, your settings and the API keys you type in are written to your browser's localStorage and never reach a server — there is no server to reach, the site is static files. Apart from the web fonts (Google Fonts), which every page loads, the only outbound calls happen when you press a button using your own credentials: Google Calendar, DeepSeek, or Gemini.
